Oh Where Could Those Crazy Counselors Be??

The Counselor Hunt took place this afternoon.  Thankfully the weather was beautiful and all 19 counselors hid somewhere between Indy and Gay Hall.  They could have been...

in a tree

in the garbage (brave soul)

in the flower garden

disguised by tall native grasses
  or behind large flowers

Going Bonkers

The kids will be coming home talking about Bonkers. According to the kids, this is the greatest game ever! I will do the best I can to explain the game!

First off you have the "bonkers". These crazy dressed counselors run after the campers and try to bonk them with a swim noodle. If a camper gets bonked, the bonkers makes his/her mark on the camper and the camper is frozen until a medic comes to cure them. Hence the markers all over their arms and face - it is washable so you may have to have them take a long bath when they get home tomorrow!

The campers, while trying avoid the "bonkers" are on the run looking for stations. The goal is to hit all stations - getting their paper signed at each as proof. The trick is that there can only be 3 people in line at each station - if there is no room they need to keep running. At each station, the campers are asked to do some weird stunt, such as....getting a half an oreo from your forehad to your mouth without using your hands.

After being "bonked" you must call for a Medic.  The Medic is also a counselor who will ask you to do an act before they cure you. Things could include saying the alphabet, singing a song or having the camper say they are the best counselor around!

Counselors hide in bushes, in trees or behind structures.  The kids must find all the counselors, do the trick and get their papers signed to win.

Battle of the Sexes

The kids played 3 rounds of Battle of the Sexes.  Girls finally won game 3!  To play, you start with equal number of boys and girls in the middle.  Everyone else sits in a circle.  Girls trade places with boys and boys trade places with girls.  After a set amount of time (we played 5 minutes) you stop the game and count the number of each sex in the middle.  The one with the fewest numbers win!

I took video but am struggling with the upload.  If I can get it to work I'll post it!  UPDATE:  I uploaded the video to YouTube hoping it would work there and I could somehow save it back to my computer to upload on here.  It worked on YouTube but I couldn't get it transferred back.  So, in the meantime, here's the link to YouTube.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ub2H_6oucg0

Boys Boys Boys

For free time this year we split the group into boys and girls.  Boys went swimming first while girls went swimming 2nd.  After swiming they could watch a movie, play in the game room, play wii or just veg out in their room.

What a great group of "lifeguards"!

Girls Girls Girls

For free time this year we split the group into boys and girls.  Boys went swimming first while girls went swimming 2nd.  While waiting to swim they could watch a movie, play in the game room, play wii or just veg out in their room.

Then it was off the pool at the RFC for an hour of swim time.
